Who Are the Great and Powerful Today? Who will Rule the World Next? What does the Bible Say?
Dictators
It depends a lot on where you live as to who that is. Many are enslaved by evil men around the world. People have no visible hope off escaping their borders or of living a good life. If they did escape, what of their family members left behind? Some leaders hold that over their heads to keep the populace in check. The fact that the free world turns their heads has got to be a crushing blow to the hopes of those slaves.
Should a body of men to rule the Earth? Does the Bible foretell anything like that?
Theocracy
Ruled by God, in most cases today ruled by man’s interpretation of what God wants. In some countries religious leaders hold a tight grip on the people. Requiring a dress code be met and many customs not found in the Bible. It becomes clear from reading the Bible that God does not force people to live in harmony with His righteous standards. Each person is a free moral agent able to make their own decisions.What Jehovah does want is for us to consider the outcome of actions in two ways. 1. Is the action or the outcome in any way unloving towards Jehovah God? 2. Is the action or outcome in any way unloving towards ourselves or any other person? See Matthew 22:37-39
For Instance: Many religious leaders tell bereaved parents that God took their child to Heaven, as if they were needed more there.God has made millions of angels, could He not make another one instead of destroying a family and causing so much pain? Of course He can. This is a lie and an unloving act of slander against God told by people who do not know God or His Word. An Unloving Act against Jehovah God!
Look at the numbers of unwed pregnant teenage girls. Sexually transmitted diseases. Extra marital affairs. Prostitution. Jehovah God never intended such things to take place. Sexual activity is to be only between a man and his wife. Premarital sex is an unloving act towards yourself and the other person. Jehovah’s desire is that we would reason these things out and make better decisions. See Isaiah 48:17,18
Democracy
Many of the people slaving under dictators or religious zealots hope that the influence of the West will loosen the tyranny. The people in the West see the drug abuse, gambling, alcohol abuse and every sort of immorality happening in their families or neighbors near them. Each day brings ever greater senseless acts of violence than happened before it. There is an ever-increasing tax burden, fees and penalties along with rising medical expenses that have impoverished them. A growing hostility toward other people seems to be spreading across nations. Many of the people are enslaved to give more than 2/3 of each day to their work to keep from sliding further into the abyss of the hopeless they see living on the streets.
Business
Business leaders have a lot of monetary influence on ruling a country. In many ways the poor are slaves to the rich. Corporate greed is alive and well. Companies that have life saving drugs raise the prices on these knowing they have customers locked into purchasing their product. Companies around the world seek to patent their products, so they can reap the profits from a good idea. What would it be like if we all worked together to advance the common good instead of profits? What could be accomplished if we all worked together?
In the Bible God has used different men to lead his believers, but they had complainers, competitors or outright opposition. Moses had many opposers over the years. Even Jesus, The Son of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah did not gain the entire Nation of Israel‘s support. Did some in that religious system think Jesus was an apostate or did the priests just act to protect their way of life by handing him over to be impaled by the Romans? Were some just comfortable with the Jewish way even though the Bibles prophets had warned them of God’s disfavor?
The prophesies in the Bible all confirm that Jesus was not an apostate or imposter. He was however the one used by God to blot out the Sin of Adam that we all inherited. The Apostle Paul was used by God to foretell that an apostasy would take place because the restraint of the apostles would die with them. After the last apostle to die , the Apostle John, Jehovah knew that evil men would elevate themselves over the Christian Church. That apostasy is as old as the churches of Rome and continues to enslave men and women to false doctrines like the Hell Fire doctrine. Can you think of anyone today that may have been elevated to a position of reverence that has power over the lives of many?
Can you see any danger in one man having too much power and authority? What is the worst that can happen?
Changing to a Body of Leaders brings Blessings
In the 1870 a group of Bible students, began an interesting way of defining Bible scriptures. They believed One God had inspired the entire collection of 66 books and that the use of other scriptures inspired by that One God, Jehovah, would be the only way to get the true meaning of the scriptures. For instance at John 1:1 states” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.” Many in the world believe this means that Jesus is God. However there are numerous scriptures that testify to the error of believing that. Such as at Isaiah chapter 43
10 “You are my witnesses,”declares Jehovah,“Yes, my servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and have faith in me And understand that I am the same One. Before me no God was formed, And after me there has been none.
11 I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.”
In order for John 1:1 to harmonize with Isaiah 43 it must be that Jesus, the Word, was a god, a lesser one than Jehovah God the Almighty. That harmonizes with Colossians 1:15 “He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation”
Has this type of reasoning led other religions to change their false doctrines? No an increase in Bible understanding has not caused churches to update their church doctrinal beliefs. False teachings are like a drop of poison, making the whole sacrifice something neither you or God would want.Imagine you are very thirsty and I offer you a tall glass of cold water, but just before you are to drink I drop one drop of poison into that tall glass of cold water. Do you still want that water or will you wait until someone gives you a tall glass of pure water? Neither Jehovah God, nor His Son Jesus Christ lie. They expect our best sacrifice. Jesus prayed at John 17:17 that His followers would be set apart by the truth. If our understanding of the scriptures change we must all grasp that change and let go of erroneous belief until we are taught by Jesus or His Father Jehovah Himself.
This type of apostasy continues today because of men who love a position of reverence, power and glory are blinded to the truth and the real hope held out to us by God. Even from among Jehovah’s Witnesses apostates have gone forth and speak badly of them. They often leave the congregation because of a different view of the Bible’s moral standards or an inability to control themselves or the change circumstances they find themselves in. Their websites display a feeling of anger and hate directed at the morals of other imperfect men or the fact that they feel they were misled or mistreated.To add to the hopelessness they feel, they know this is the only way to please our creator Jehovah God, they must repent and try again or suffer what they know in their hearts is coming, dying in the same spiritual condition as Judas Iscariot. Their message is much like the worlds under Satan’s influence” Do Not talk to Jehovah’s Witnesses.” Do opposers come to your door to try to help you deal with the world and what is happening around you? They do not come to you to show you how the Bible can bring you comfort even in these perilous times. No, they are fueled by hate and complaint like the many that arose against Moses?
Up until 1975 Jehovah’s Witnesses had one Brother, an Elder, in each congregation that was responsible for the local congregation including other Elders, much like other churches but unpaid. Just like the rest of history there were some stresses because of the egos of men. The Witnesses made changes in that year to a body of men, a body of Elders, in each congregation. They are all unpaid volunteers that have shown a desire to work towards the good of their local congregation in harmony with the guidelines the first century christians followed. If there is a question they are unsure about, they in turn can seek the help of a body of men at a regional branch or the World Headquarters. It is apparent that Jehovah God is pleased with this arrangement because of the growth and in the increase of peace and unity in the congregations as the influence of that one overseer passes. It has been a complete period of time, 40 years, since that change where is the organization today? The worldwide congregation has soared to over 8 million active participants and some 12 million others that attended meetings one or more times a year. The website JW.Org, an incredible work in itself, testifies to the oneness of spirit that drives each member to reach a little further as a slave of Jehovah God to help his or her neighbor. The Bible states that in our days a body of rulers or coalition of Kings will rise up to rule over the Earth. Will those kings be more like China and Russia or more like the United States and Great Britain? The Bible does not say, it does tell us it will be a relatively short period of time that they rule. The instability of the days is brought out in the 2 chapter of Daniel at verses 42 and 43 :
42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 Just as you saw iron mixed with soft clay, they will be mixed with the people; but they will not stick together, one to the other, just as iron does not mix with clay.
Compare that with Revelation 17:12
“The ten horns that you saw mean ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they do receive authority as kings for one hour with the wild beast. 13 These have one thought, so they give their power and authority to the wild beast. 14 These will battle with the Lamb, but because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lamb will conquer them. Also, those with him who are called and chosen and faithful will do so.”
It’s interesting to me that in chapter 2 of Daniel, the image described as a forecast of countries that will rule over a remnant of Abraham’s lineage has 10 toes at the end of man’s rule over the Earth. Daniel 2:44 states what will be the end every Great and Powerful person ruling over their fellow-man in an evil way. First it comes with those in False Religion around the World.
The whole world today is under the influence of the apostasy that started after the Apostles passed away. The Bible proves its inspiration when you use one scripture to testify to the meaning of another. The record of the Bible’s prophesies being fulfilled also testifies to the inspiration of God. What of the apostasy. Jesus continues at Revelation 17:15
He said to me: “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is sitting, mean people’s and crowds and nations and tongues. 16 And the ten horns that you saw and the wild beast, these will hate the prostitute and will make her devastated and naked, and they will eat up her flesh and completely burn her with fire. 17 For God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought, yes, to carry out their one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished. 18 And the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.
Yes this coalition of Kings will destroy false religions worldwide today. Can you see any reason why these nations would do this? Could it be to stem terrorism? We can be sure it will soon happen, because neither Jesus nor Jehovah can or will lie to us. These men, the apostates, have lied about Jehovah God, Jesus Christ and the slaves He uses to draw others to Himself. That cannot go unpunished. The day of judgment will be a terrible day, a day the Bible has referred to since the beginning at Genesis 3:15 where it shows that the seed (from Abraham’s lineage) would be injured by Satan’s seed. That seed would in turn deal a death-blow to Satan and his seed or followers. We know Jesus came to Earth and was put to death by evil men that did not want to lose their elevated position over the people. Jehovah resurrected Jesus back to Heavenly life making His Death a heel injury. This testifies to the fact that the second part of that first prophesy will soon be fulfilled. Every Christian church outside of Jehovah’s Witnesses has some part of the apostasy in it. Revelation 18:4 tells you what you should do
4 And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues.
