Why Did So Many Have To Die?
What Attitude Led to Their Demise?
See the young couple with 4 young children treading water, struggling to stay afloat in the flood waters. It would be just a matter of time before they tire out and succumbed to death from drowning. You can imagine the pain of watching your children drown right beside you and in their final seconds the parents looking at each other knowing why this happened and how they could have prevented it. Looking across the water we can see many others, this was much worse than the Titanic Disaster. Why Did So Many Have To Die? Were they given a warning or a choice?
The year was 2370 B.C.E. near October 31st. Life was good and bad at the same time. There was no ruling authority, no protection from the wicked. The Earth was full of violent men with no law or consequence to suppress their desires. What does the written record of those years reveal about what was happening?
2 Peter 3:5 states: For they deliberately ignore this fact, that long ago there were heavens and an earth standing firmly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God. What attitude would cause them to “deliberately ignore this fact?”
Did God influence Peter to tell us that the Earth was like the Yolk of an egg? Was the Earth surrounded by a shell of water vapor or ice? That would explain a lot toward the question “where did the water for the Flood come from?” Before the Deluge, the Earth was more like a smooth ball,much like the moon. Then the accumulating weight of the falling water crumpled the Earth’s crust in some places which formed deep oceans and forced tall mountains to burst forth from the level plains due to the extreme pressure. This would explain where the water came from and where it went after the flood, that’s why the waters were slow to recede.
Before that time God states He felt great sadness because rebellious angels had turned the Earth into their own Fantasy Island. These angels were following Satan’s lead in leaving Jehovah God’s organization and decided that they wanted to choose what is good and bad for themselves, like Adam and Eve did. They made their own manly bodies which were very close to the one Adam had. They could now experience fleshly things that they could never experience before. They took women and began having sexual relations with them. The women bore them male children which were called the Nephilim. The Nephilim were sons of angels from a human mother which means they had a genetic code different from the imperfect DNA we inherited from Adam. If God had not flooded the Earth, drowning the Nephilim and forcing their angelic fathers to flee their bodies and the planet, the Earth could have become like the worst horror movie that men have ever thought of, with angels culling the human race for young women to feed their debased appetite. See 1 Peter 3:19, 20.
Adding to Gods sadness was the fact that human men were acting wickedly, bringing every form of pain and suffering to reality. There was one godly man living at that time,Noah, Jehovah God trusted him to carry out God’s plan to restore some order to the Earth that a savior for sinful men might be born and lead Adam’s offspring back to Eden in a spiritual way, a unifying of men within Jehovah God’s Favored Relationship and His purpose for the Earth.
The Flood-But why did so many have to die?
Reading Genesis 6: Now when men started to grow in number on the surface of the ground and daughters were born to them, the sons of the true God began to notice that the daughters of men were beautiful. So they began taking as wives all whom they chose. Then Jehovah said: “My spirit will not tolerate man indefinitely, because he is only flesh. Accordingly, his days will amount to 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days. During that time the sons of the true God continued to have relations with the daughters of men, and these bore sons to them. They were the mighty ones of old times, the men of fame.
Verse 5-8: Consequently, Jehovah saw that man’s wickedness was great on the earth and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time. Jehovah regretted that he had made men on the earth, and his heart was saddened. So Jehovah said: “I am going to wipe men whom I have created off the surface of the ground, man together with domestic animals, creeping animals, and flying creatures of the heavens, for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of Jehovah.
It is important for us to understand the attitude of the people living then because Jesus stated that the attitude of people living in the last days would be the same. Reading Matthew 24:36 “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.
Considering the young family we saw in the beginning, the young woman may have been Noah’s niece. Noah most likely would of spoke with her and her husband several times. Noah would have invited her and her family to join Noah and his family on the Ark when the time came, thus warning them of the imminent danger.
2 Peter 3:5-9 tells us that besides building an ark, Noah sounded a warning and served God faithfully as “a preacher of righteousness.” But the people “took no note until the flood came and swept them all away.” God has always warned people of His approaching actions. God used Noah just as He has used Jehovah’s Witnesses for over a hundred years to warn people that Jehovah will soon flood the Earth again, no not with water. The Bible describes how He will flood the Earth with powerful loyal angels who will tear the wicked from the Earth. One angel once killed 185,000 soldiers in one night without leaving a mark on them. There may be more than a hundred million angels in Heaven along with Jesus Christ and nearly 144,000 resurrected men and women co-rulers who Jehovah will commission to remove every one that has ignored His warning. See 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10
But why do so many have to die? What do you think? What is it that really kills all those people?
In the case of Noah’s niece, why did she not go to Ark? Did she and her husband think that God just did not care? She had never seen God do anything, but she must have looked at her own body and realized that life could not come about by accident. She bore four children and must have felt how miraculous it is to bear a child, then to hold that child in your arms with a feeling of awe as you look at this miracle in your arms. Noah would have told her about his faith and what God had asked him to do. There was no Bible in Noah’s days, Noah’s faith was built on his observations of creation and the many things that just could not have come about by accident. Noah’s niece and her husband would have done anything to protect their children, why did they ignore Noah’s warning and invitation? Why do so many today ignore God? What attitude leads people away from God?
Why Did So Many Have To Die? Disbelief?
Today, we have the Bible that explains what God has done and what He will again do? We have technology that helps us to bring all kinds of information to the monitor before us in seconds. Our understanding of genetics today, help us to see how impossible it is that life evolved; rather all life was designed by a very intelligent designer. Those designs are written out in the genetic code of all living things. We know that if we took 100 million male mosquitoes and let them loose on a planet with no life on it, when we come back in a few weeks or a few million years, there would be no life again. Some of the mosquitoes did not evolve into females, some did not evolve into bumble bees or anything else because of their genetic code they were born male mosquitoes and died male mosquitoes.
In Noah’s time, He was a preacher for 40 years, warning all he could that God’s patience had expired, Jehovah had to act, because this beautiful gem He created was once peaceful and calming to view; but now the unfettered evil and wickedness was saddening to look upon. Every day Jehovah did nothing served as an invitation to even more angels to leave His Heavenly sovereignty. The Ark was seen by many people as it was being built. That massive project stood as a witness itself; if you had seen it at that time would you not wonder ’will God do something?’

Jehovah’s Judgment Against Law-Defying People
When the Apostles of Jesus asked when will God act again? Jesus told them about events that would mark those last days before His Great Day. The last piece of that composite sign was that the Good News of God’s Kingdom would be preached in all the inhabited Earth for a witness to all the Nations, then the End will come. See Matthew 24:3-14. What Jehovah is offering has been made known to the Ends of the Earth, yet Matthew 7:13,14 makes it known that most people do not want it, Why? The Ark Noah built had limited living space and food for human consumption. What attitude was so prevalent that God knew few or none would join Noah and his family on the Ark?
What is God Offering People Who Turn to Him for Help?
People go to their Doctor that they might return to better health and quality of life. What God is offering is so much more than a temporary fix. Just like the Earth, Jehovah created men on Earth to be Permanent. As mans Designer and Creator, Jehovah knows exactly what needs to be done to return us to physical and spiritual perfection.
What Will Physical and Spiritual Perfection Bring Us?
Jehovah is offering perfect health and well-being for you and your family on your own farm for as long as you want to live or eternity. Our human mind cannot even grasp that thought of eternity completely in our current state. The Bible doesn’t state that angels live a few short years then pass away, rather they can live on forever while enjoying life and a close relationship with Jehovah God Himself. But what attitude would cause anyone to turn that down for a few short years in Satan’s world?
Imagine the Peace and Security of that time, no need for security systems or bars and door locks. Imagine the Joy you and your mate will have as you take a leisurely walk around the planet, camping out and meeting others who are just amazed at how great life can be. So why did so many have to die?
Imagine growing the trees that you will build your on yacht with and the many relaxing days as you sail the seven seas. Or maybe you will spend hundreds of years writing music and crafting your own instruments. Or maybe you will develop a device that will be attracted to the sun, while it holds you in place as the planet rotates below you, each day would result in a trip around the world, yet you never moved at all.
The scenario we started with of the drowning family happened over and over again on the day Jehovah appointed for it. The couple realized that they could have prevented it from happening to them and their children, but they didn’t. The Bible states that because of events that are about to take place most everyone on Earth will have that same dreadful feeling. See Ezekiel 38:21-23

The Bible speaks of the Judgement Day, where everyone alive at that time will be judged. They are judged by their actions in response to God’s Warning. In Noah’s Day no one took the necessary action to avoid death at God’s Hand. What attitude led to their ignoring this message?
After that judgement of the living, many who lived and died before that day will be resurrected back to human life on Earth and taught about Jehovah God, Jesus Christ and His Sacrificial Death and the Hope of Eternal Life. In time they will be judged by their attitude and actions regarding what they learn. For a young child this may take many years. On the other hand some older adults may have no desire to live the best life possible and be removed after a short time. Attitude will lead to action, either ours or God’s. I pray a little fore-thought can help others to be cognizant of what their attitude is. Consider how John 5:25-29 speaks of a resurrection and what separates the two groups.
What Attitude will lead to the best outcome? A Willing Attitude will listen to the facts of both arguments so that you can arrive at the right conclusion. Some were willing to listen to Jesus in the first century. Many were not because of the wrong attitude promoted by religious leaders of that time. Many turned away after seeing Jesus because he did not represent what they wanted for the future.(A Powerful King to Deliver them from the Roman Tyranny) Many today, after considering the evidence, have concluded this man was then and is today God’s Son. Yet the Wrong Attitude kept many from even going to listen. What of the closed minded attitude of all those who chanted “Impale Him, Impale Him?” Could We Ever Be So Wrong?
